Light-transmitting materials
Glass and acrylic can soften or shape the emitted light. Texture, thickness and distance from the LED or bulb affect the illuminated appearance. Natural bubbles, veining or slight variation should be distinguished from damage.
Natural materials
Wood, alabaster, stone and travertine vary naturally in grain, tone and pattern. Product images show the design character, but no two natural-material pieces are perfectly identical.
Metal finishes
Brass, nickel, black, white and wood-grain finishes can read differently under warm and cool light. Clean them with a soft dry cloth and avoid abrasive or chemical cleaners.
